ST. HELENS, Ore. (AP) — A mental health worker has been stabbed to death while visiting a client in St. Helens.

St. Helens Police Chief Steve Salle tells The Oregonian (http://is.gd/XCsUfF ) that a man named Brent Redd called police at about 8 a.m. to report that Jennifer Warren had been stabbed.

Warren died of her injuries and Redd was taken to a hospital. It’s unclear what injuries he suffered. He has not been charged with a crime.

Warren worked for Columbia Community Mental Health, a nonprofit that is contracted by Columbia County. Salle said Warren was on-duty Sunday morning.

Columbia County Commissioner Henry Heimuller, who lives across the street from the home where the stabbing occurred. He said it happened inside one of the units of a duplex owned by the nonprofit.

Heimuller says Warren was well-known and well-respected in the community as a mental health worker.
