SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Police say a man has been found dead on a Salem street, and another person has been killed in a nearby house fire.
The Salem Statesman Journal reports (http://stjr.nl/Jb7qW4) the police are treating the two deaths for the time being as separate investigations.
A delivery driver found the man’s body on a street in northeast Salem about 4:20 a.m. Police say they don’t know the cause of his death.
A neighbor at the house a few blocks away told the paper he awoke about 5:30 a.m. to the sight of black smoke pouring out of the building and “people screaming and yelling.”
