NEW YORK (AP) — Right-hander Ryota Igarashi has been claimed by the New York Yankees off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays.

Igarashi, who turned 33 Monday, allowed four earned runs in one inning over two appearances this season with the Blue Jays, who brought him up May 25 and designated him two days later.

He was 5-2 with a 5.74 ERA in 79 relief appearances with the Mets in 2010-11, spent spring training this year with Pittsburgh and was acquired by the Blue Jays on March 30. He was 1-1 with a 1.29 ERA and four saves at Triple-A Las Vegas.

New York cleared a spot on the 40-man roster Tuesday by transferring right-hander Brad Meyers from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
