Clark County Public Health and Kaiser Permanente are hosting a free screening of an episode of the HBO documentary series “The Weight of the Nation.”

The event is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 31, in the Columbia Room at the Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St.

The half-hour episode, “Nashville Takes Action,” tells the story of a city taking steps to improve community health. It also looks at the importance of childhood obesity prevention, health food access and making exercise more accessible.

Before the screening, Dr. Michael Wilmington, a Kaiser pediatrician, will discuss some of the themes in the documentary.

After the screening, health experts and community groups will lead a discussion. Panelists will share success stories and community leaders will offer information and ideas for addressing the obesity epidemic in local neighborhoods.
