COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — It would surprise many to know that llinois has done very, very well in Ohio Stadium over the last 20-plus years.

Yet Ohio State coach Urban Meyer doesn’t believe the Illini have his sixth-ranked and unbeaten Buckeyes’ number heading into Saturday’s home game against the struggling Illini.

Illinois has won three of the last five and seven of 11 meetings in Columbus dating to 1988, including three games in which the Buckeyes were ranked and the Illini weren’t.

Meyer is a pragmatist. If one team beats another, he believes the simplest reason is that it had more talent instead of holding some sort of a magical power.

Still, the Buckeyes say they’re taking strides to make sure they do not take Illinois lightly.
