MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (AP) — Jeff Sinclair threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to Duane Mitchell in the fourth quarter and Robert Morris held on for a 17-13 victory over Duquesne Saturday.
Sinclair also ran for an 11-yard touchdown in the first quarter to open the scoring. It was set up when Duquesne’s Charlie Leventry had a punt blocked.
Leventry later kicked two field goals for the Dukes (5-4, 3-3). They followed Sean Patterson’s 8-yard touchdown pass to Gianni Carter, tying the game at 7-all. Leventry’s second field goal, on the last play of the third quarter, put Duquesne ahead 13-10.
For Robert Morris (3-6, 2-4), Mitchell’s winning touchdown catch came with 12:15 remaining.
Duquesne later drove from its 23-yard line to the Colornials’ 5. But Patterson threw three incompletions and Larry McCoy was stopped for no gain. A 15-yard personal foul penalty on Duquesne gave Robert Morris breathing room to run out the clock.
