40TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION, Family of Christ Lutheran Church, 3500 N.W. 129th St., will continue celebrating 40 years of ministry. Guest pastor Josef Aalbue will preach at 8:30 and 11 a.m. The final celebration will be Dec. 9, with a banquet following the 11 a.m. service. 360-573-5031.

FRIDAY

BENEFIT FOR THE HOMELESS: “Night of Song and Praise,” for the Winter Hospitality Overflow ministry will begin at 7 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, 8701 N.E. 119th St. The concert features the praise teams from Salmon Creek United Methodist Church and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Bridge Town vocal group from Warner Pacific College in Portland. An offering will be taken. The WHO was established in Clark County in 1996 and is run by Share and the Council for the Homeless, in partnership with St. Andrew Lutheran and St. Paul Lutheran churches. DISTRICT BISHOP THE REV. W. DARIN MOORE, and his wife, Devieta Moore, missionary supervisor, will attend a worship service at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 30 and a check-up meeting at 10 a.m. Dec. 1, both at Community African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. The Rev. Joyce M. Smith, pastor of Community AME, will host a welcome reception at the church, 3605 E. 13th St., following the check-up meeting.

Moore was appointed bishop this summer at the general conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. Among his awards are the James Varick Leadership Medallion for exceptional service to the A.M.E. SEEKING DONATIONS for “Carols by Candlelight,” a Christmas event for adults and children Dec. 21 at Esther Short Park. Activate Church wants to help Clark County folks have a warmer Christmas. The church is asking for donations of hats, gloves and scarves, hot chocolate ingredients, 7-inch Christmas stockings and funds to purchase other supplies.
