SYDNEY (AP) — Olympic cycling gold medalist Anna Meares of Australia plans to compete at the 2016 Games at Rio de Janeiro.

She made the announcement after winning her second Sir Hubert Opperman award as Australian cyclist of the year Friday.

Meares has not trained seriously since London, where she beat British rival Victoria Pendleton to win the sprint gold medal. Meares also combined with Kaarle McCulloch to win bronze in the team sprint at London. She won a gold medal at the 2004 Athens Games in the individual time trial.

Meares is taking a break from training until early next year. She says she is looking forward to “just wearing my trackies around the house, gardening, walking the dog and annoying my husband.”
