Foster fuels Santa Clara past Simpson 106-66

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Kevin Foster scored 27 points, including 7 of 15 shots from 3-point range, and Santa Clara had little trouble with Simpson (Calif.) College in a 106-66 season-opening victory on Saturday night.

Robert Garrett scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and Marc Trasolini narrowly missed a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. Raymond Cowels had 12 points, including three 3-pointers.

Simpson’s top scorer was Guy Valsek, who had 23, including three 3-pointers.

Simpson had 20 turnovers, compared to just two for Santa Clara. The Broncos scored 33 points off turnovers, and had a 46-12 scoring advantage off the bench.
