William & Mary tops High Point 83-61

HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP) — Tim Rusthoven scored 23 points and Marcus Thornton added 21 — including a game-high three 3-pointers — and William & Mary beat High Point 83-61 Saturday.

William & Mary (3-0) is off to its best start since the 1992-93 season.

William & Mary broke up an 11-10 game with a 22-2 run to take a 32-13 lead with 2:14 left in the first half.

The Tribe pushed their lead to 54-31 in the second half behind a layup from Thornton.

Thornton made 8 of 14 shots and also dished a team-high five assists. His third 3-pointer of the game put the Tribe ahead 42-25 in the second half.

Allan Chaney led High Point (2-1) with 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, but the Panthers shot 31 percent (22 of 71) from the field and sent the Tribe to the line for 32 free throw attempts.
