Letter: Light rail will become necessity

I have been riding the bus for several years. We have a good bus system here in Vancouver. Although, I have observed for a number of years that we still need to have light rail. If and when the new bridge is built, I don’t feel it will solve all traffic problems, and tolling could hurt people who don’t have the money.

Also to reduce long lines of traffic traveling to Portland, light rail in Vancouver is the answer. More dedicated bus lanes on the freeway is also a solution as it would allow the express bus to travel without interruptions. There are a lot of people who work in Portland, and I believe many will realize that they need light rail.

For those people who drive — try riding a bus for a week and observe the traffic situation.
