Letter: Career politician in the making

The Columbian
Published: November 28, 2012, 4:00pm

The photo of Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, on the front of the Nov. 26 Columbian shows a lovely young woman on her way to becoming a career politician at the expense of the 3rd Congressional District constituency.

The office of U.S. representative was deliberately established as a two-year elected office so that over time a broader range of local views could be represented. It was never conceived of as a full-time job for anyone.

Part of the problem with the members of Congress is that they spend the bulk of their time running for office instead of representing the people. Please remember this “career politician” next time you vote.
