Northeast Washougal River Road is now open to through traffic following replacement of Cougar Creek Bridge. Conway Construction Co. of Ridgefield, the county’s general contractor, reopened the road after installing guardrails and finishing other final construction items.

The bridge was closed for about 13 weeks from Milepost 5.1 to 5.2 to replace the timber bridge with a precast concrete girder bridge. Construction started in mid-July, and the project was finished on time. Brief single-lane closures may take place in the coming weeks so crews can complete final guardrail work.
