Letter: Missed opportunity for voters

The Columbian
Published: October 17, 2012, 5:00pm

The League of Women Voters sponsored a debate between the four candidates running for the two positions on the Board of Clark County Commissioners. This was a public debate for Clark County residents to hear the issues discussed and debated between the four candidates.

I was stunned when the moderator failed to ask any question regarding the Columbia River Crossing. This will be the single biggest expenditure of taxpayer funds in my memory as a county resident. The oversight provided by the Clark County commissioners will be critical to the efficient use of taxpayer funds on this project, the potential implementation of light rail, the management of C-Tran, and a host of related issues. I am saddened at this missed opportunity, and the failure of the moderator and organizers to see that this issue was addressed by the candidates.
