RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — FIFA says secretary general Jerome Valcke is in good condition and improving from a kidney infection at a hospital in Brazil.

FIFA said Friday that Valcke “is recovering well” at the Samaritano hospital, where he was admitted on Wednesday night. Doctors said Valcke was being treated with antibiotics, and it’s not known when he will be released.

The 52-year-old Frenchman, FIFA’s top administrator, was in Brazil for a three-day trip to visit 2014 World Cup host cities.

Valcke went to Belo Horizonte on Tuesday and Porto Alegre on Wednesday, but was not able to attend the local organizing board meeting on Thursday. He was replaced by FIFA deputy secretary general Markus Kattner.
