ASPEN, Colo. (AP) — Disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong has lost his Tour de France titles and the backing of major sponsors. But the Aspen Art Museum says it is standing by the part-time resident who is on the museum board.

The Aspen Times reports Tuesday that museum officials hope Armstrong remains on its board of directors (http://bit.ly/Rva4LW ). Nike, Anheuser-Busch and other major corporate sponsors have dropped Lance Armstrong in the wake of the doping scandal.

In Aspen, Armstrong attended an August fundraiser for the art museum that raised $1.8 million.

Aspen Art Museum director Heidi Zuckerman Jacobson called Armstrong “an excellent board member and good citizen in our community.”
