BERN, Switzerland (AP) — Swiss skier Beat Feuz is a doubtful starter for the opening World Cup race on Sunday.

The Swiss ski federation says Feuz will decide before the race whether to start the giant slalom in Soelden, Austria, after seeing the course conditions.

Feuz, who was edged out for the overall title last season, had surgery on his left knee this year. He returned early from an offseason training camp in Argentina.

The 25-year-old racer lost the overall title to Marcel Hirscher of Austria by only 25 points — the equivalent of an additional 10th-place race finish.
