A Camas home-brewing operation announced Tuesday that it will open a brew pub in the city’s downtown in response to a downtown merchant group’s months-long recruitment effort.

Mark Zech, one of three partners who plans to open Mill City Brew Werks, said his group has offered to purchase a vacant building for the venue at 325 N.E. Cedar St., along the downtown core’s main Fourth Avenue drag.

Zech said the business will include a basement brewing operation and street-level bar and restaurant with seating for 75 patrons. He anticipates a May or June opening for the brewery, which he said will employ about 20 people.
