EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Pink penalty flags in support of breast cancer awareness, the idea of an 11-year-old fan, are being used at the game between the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.
Commissioner Roger Goodell met with Dante Cano, a fifth-grader from Marlboro, N.J., on the field about an hour before the game Sunday and took pictures with him and his family, along with game officials and former Jets star Joe Klecko.
Cano says he got the idea while watching other NFL games and seeing lots of pink on players' uniforms and coaches' caps this month. He recently sent Goodell a letter suggesting the pink penalty flags, and the commissioner said, "I wish I had thought of it."
Goodell signed a football to Cano: "You are very special!"
