AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas has a new Thanksgiving opponent

New Big 12 member TCU will play the Nov. 22 in Austin. It will be just their third meeting since the breakup of the Southwest Conference 16 years ago.

Longtime Texas rival Texas A&M joined the Southeastern Conference this year along with fellow Big 12 member Missouri. The Big 12 added TCU and West Virginia.

The Longhorns and Aggies won’t play this year for the first time since 1914. Their game in 1900 was the first of more than 60 played on Thanksgiving.

TCU will play on Thanksgiving for the first time since a 15-6 win at SMU on Nov. 29, 1928.
