NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Saints cornerback Johnny Patrick has hurt his right leg during Sunday’s regular-season opener against the Washington Redskins, and has been carted to the locker room after being examined on the sideline.

The Redskins, meanwhile, say receiver Pierre Garcon has hurt his right foot and is questionable to return.

Patrick, who started after New Orleans scratched Jabari Greer (groin), was hurt while breaking up Robert Griffin III’s pass near the Saints’ goal line. He needed help to the sideline, where trainers appeared to be looking at his right knee.

The injury left the Saints with only three active cornerbacks: Patrick Robinson, rookie Corey White and Jerome Murphy, who was claimed off waivers from St. Louis at the end of the preseason.
