AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Dalton Williams threw for 446 yards and Akron scored 45 unanswered second-half points Saturday in a 66-6 rout of Morgan State.

Williams completed 37 of 48 passes and threw for three touchdowns for the Zips (1-2) before giving way late in the third quarter to backup Kyle Pohl, who threw for Akron’s final three scores.

Akron amassed 43 first downs and outgained the Bears (1-2), a Football Championship Subdivision team, 753 yards to 200. Jawon Chisholm carried 18 times for 129 yards.

Williams, who tied an Akron record with five touchdown passes last week in a 41-38 loss to Florida International, has 10 scoring passes this season.

Morgan State trailed 21-6 at halftime, getting two Ervin Gonzalez field goals, but they punted on their first six second-half possessions and later fumbled twice.

Travis Davidson, who averaged 121.5 rushing yards in the Bears’ first two games, had 82 on 19 carries.
