Pollard, Bauer, Loop honored for service in Korea

Hazel Dell — Three high-profile veterans received certificates and medals on Sept. 19, honoring their service in South Korea. Honored were former Vancouver Mayor Royce Pollard, who was stationed in South Korea before becoming commander of Vancouver Barracks; former State Sen. Al Bauer, who served in the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Navy; and Curtis Loop, retired major general and former commander of the 104th Division (based in Vancouver) who became deputy commander of U.S. Army Pacific. The ceremony was at the monthly meeting of Southwest Washington's Richard L. Quatier Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association. The group meets at 10 a.m. on the third Wednesday each month in the Boxcar Room at the 40 et 8 Chateau, 7607 N.E. 26th Ave.
