Wofford’s Breitenstein runs over Elon in 49-24 win

ELON, N.C. (AP) — Eric Breitenstein ran for Southern Conference single-game record of 321 yards and scored two touchdowns, and Brian Kass scored three touchdowns rushing and threw for one to propel Wofford to a 49-24 victory against Elon on Saturday.

It was the first 300-yard rushing game in conference history.

The touchdown pass was the only one Kass completed in six tries, and he was intercepted once.

Wofford (4-0, 2-0) piled up 516 yards of offense to Elon’s 410.

Elon’s Thomas Wilson was 31-for-47 passing with 322 yards and two touchdowns, and Aaron Mellette caught 13 for 177 yards and two TDs. The 100-yard receiving game was the 17th of Mellette’s career, moving him into a tie for second in conference history. He has caught 33 career scoring passes, moving him into third place in the conference record book.

Elon (2-3, 0-2) lost two fumbles.
