ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Angels shortstop Erick Aybar has left the second game of a doubleheader in Texas.

There was a stoppage in play in the bottom of the second inning Sunday night when Aybar walked toward the third-base line and met briefly with a trainer and manager Mike Scioscia. He almost immediately came out of the game.

Aybar appeared to hurt himself while batting in the top of the second. After unsuccessfully trying to be out a grounder, he grimaced and grabbed at his right leg after passing the bag.

Maicer Izturis, who played second base in the opener the wild-card hopeful Angels won 5-4, came off the bench and replaced Aybar at shortstop. Aybar was also at shortstop for the opener.
