Letter: Keep bicycle lanes on MacArthur

The Columbian
Published: April 21, 2013, 5:00pm

Bicycle lanes create safety for bicyclists and other users. MacArthur Boulevard bicycle lanes are healthy and protective for the children and others traveling to the two schools and other schools near MacArthur Boulevard.

MacArthur Boulevard is the primary east/west bike-lane road in southern Clark County and is used at all hours and times by bicyclists and pedestrians. The auto traffic count is well below the standard for two-lane roads.

Having bicycle lanes enhances the enjoyment and safety bicyclists experience going to and from the farmers market, concerts in the park, and other events in downtown Vancouver.

Maintaining bicycle lanes on MacArthur is the right thing to do when the re-striping occurs in the near future.
