Really? That’s what they came up with? The first college football playoff for any division that fans really care about and it’s called this?

Well, naturally, it’s called this.

The College Football Playoff.

Yep, that’s it.

Organizers claim they will not sell a sponsor, so it won’t be the Coke Zero College Football Playoff. Of course, the real reason is no company would want to sponsor such a boring name.

A long, long time ago, the NFL and AFL played a professional football game and it was called something like the NFL-AFL Championship Game. Eventually, people realized how dumb that was, and now we have the Super Bowl.

Of course, the people running college football now probably were running things back in the 1960s, so maybe this is all part of the plan.

Eventually, somebody will have to come up with a better name, right?

The Trail Blazers just can’t hide, even when the playoffs have started without them.

Through no fault of their own, the draft-day blunder of 2007 is coming up again.

Kevin Durant is on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week. He is seen shooting, but a graphic with his words, a long quote, surrounds him. The quote pretty much sums up the fact that Durant is tired of being No. 2.

He was the second-best high school player in the nation. He has finished second in the league MVP voting. His team finished second last year to the Heat. Oh, and, he added, he was second in the 2007 draft.

Wait a minute? He was the second pick of the draft? Who would pass up on that guy? Oh yeah.

Poor Blazers.

Durant’s quote just brings all those memories back.

The Blazers, and their fans, remain haunted.
