DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Cornerback Jamar Taylor of Boise State has been selected by the Miami Dolphins in the second round of the NFL draft.

Taylor, the 54th overall selection Friday, had four interceptions and three fumbles forced last year. The Dolphins are in the market for defensive playmakers after tying for fourth-worst in takeaways in 2012.

Taylor will compete for a starting job after the departure of Sean Smith to the Kansas City Chiefs via free agency.

The Dolphins’ first-round pick Thursday was pass rusher Dion Jordan of Oregon. They still haven’t acquired a replacement for departed Pro Bowl tackle Jake Long but have two picks in the third round.
