Raiders select Watson with 42nd overall pick

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — The Oakland Raiders selected Florida State offensive lineman Menelik Watson with the 42nd overall pick in the second round of the NFL draft.

The Raiders added Watson on Friday with the pick they acquired the previous day from Miami when they moved back nine spots in the opening round. Oakland took cornerback D.J. Hayden 12th overall on Thursday.

Watson grew up in England and grew up playing soccer, basketball and boxed. He played one season of basketball at Marist College before taking up football at Saddleback Junior College. He played one season of football with the Seminoles and is considered to be raw.

The Raiders also have the fourth pick in the third round, 66th overall.
