ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Bills have drafted Clemson safety Jonathan Meeks with the 143rd pick in the NFL draft, continuing to boost their depth at safety.

Listed at 6-foot-1, 210 pounds, Meeks had 157 tackles, seven interceptions and 13 pass breakups in 50 career games, including 24 starts. Meeks is a versatile prospect who could play at strong or free safety in the pros and has good size and range.

Meeks was the second safety chosen by the Bills on Saturday, addressing a need for depth at the position. The team also selected Nevada safety Michael ‘Duke’ Williams one round earlier with the 105th overall pick. Buffalo’s top safety, Jairus Byrd, is unsigned after receiving the franchise tag and the Bills had little experience on the roster behind Byrd leading up to the draft.
