ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — The Washington Redskins have selected safety Phillip Thomas in the fourth round of the NFL draft.
The Redskins chose the defensive back from Fresno State with the 114th overall pick Saturday.
The selection means the Redskins have selected the last two players who have led the FBS in interceptions. Thomas had eight for the Bulldogs last year, and second-round pick David Amerson had 13 with North Carolina State in 2011.
The Redskins needed help in the secondary after they ranked 30th in the league against the pass last year.
