LONDON (AP) — Chris Froome says he will lead Team Sky at the Tour de France, despite teammate Bradley Wiggins saying a decision has yet to be made by management.

In a statement released to VeloNews, Froome says “I have been reassured by the management at Team Sky that I have their full backing, and at no time has the leadership of the Tour team been in question.”

Wiggins, who won the Tour last year, said Monday that team principal Dave Brailsford will decide on the leader in the week leading up to the Tour and “at this stage, it may be that we end up joint leaders for that first week.”

Froome finished second in the 2012 Tour and is widely considered a better climber.
