GEARHART, Ore. — A retired police officer walking with his 9-year-old granddaughter on a beach near Gearhart found a decomposing hand on Friday near the high tide line.
The Oregon State Police say the retired officer, who was not identified, moved the hand away from the water so it wouldn’t wash back out into the ocean and called police.
The discovery north of the Del Ray Beach access point will be examined by the Clatsop County Medical Examiner.
