Esther Short — Fire in the Park, the annual Share fundraiser that challenges firefighters to test their skills and chili chefs to test their recipes, was declared a roaring success. Chili honors were won by Goldie’s Texas Style BBQ (People’s Choice) and Gray’s in the Park (Judge’s Choice), as well as the Red Lion Hotel Vancouver at the Quay (Best Decorated Booth). First, second and third place in the firefighter skills challenge went to Scott Woodhouse, Tyler Dillmon and Brandon Walsh, respectively. The event raised about $15,000 for Share, said development director Sue Warren.
