Letter: Answers questionable

Regarding the July 28 story (hardly an interview), “Benton discusses new county job,” I have some follow-up questions for Clark County’s director of environmental services.

His predecessor, a West Point graduate and Desert Storm veteran, Kevin Gray, met the qualifications for the position Benton now holds. What percentage of those qualifications does Benton meet? Does he expect to receive the near-perfect employment evaluations of Gray, who was forced out for holding other county employees to a higher standard than that of Commissioners David Madore and Tom Mielke?

How would Benton define the act of approaching a seated Republican state senator, Ann Rivers, and screaming obscenities in her face on the floor of the Senate after she voted for equal rights with same-sex marriage? Is this what he refers to in the interview as “I’m very good with people. I’m very good with bringing diverse populations together”?

I believe Benton has demonstrated that he is an angry misogynist and a narcissist for accepting a job he had no qualifications for, made vacant by the removal of Gray, who is qualified, as the May 5 story reported “Benton predecessor forced out.”

I’m glad to read Benton learned to wash his hands as a child. If only we could wash our hands of him.
