INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Jantel Lavender scored 12 of her game-high 18 points in the first half to lead the Los Angeles Sparks to a 74-64 win over the defending-champion Indiana Fever on Thursday night.
Candace Parker added 17 points and six rebounds for Los Angeles (15-7), which won its third straight game.
The Sparks used a 13-0 run to open a 32-13 second-quarter lead at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Indiana (10-11) got within 53-48 in the second half, but got no closer.
Tamika Catchings led Indiana with 17 points, and Erlana Larkins added 11 points, 13 rebounds and six steals.
