Letter: No excuse to delay veteran pay

The Columbian

I agree with the Aug. 13 editorial “Sen. Murray is off-key: Plea to public about sequestration fails to resonate with taxpayers,” only to a point. Delaying the military their pay is past that point.

I personally know of two instances where an active member’s pregnant wife didn’t have money for food and rent because her check was late. I also know an Army reservist (who is now a student) who didn’t have money for food and rent for the same reason: late checks.

With all the money that is sent to other countries’ aid, there is no excuse.
