COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A witness at an Ohio trial says a man accused of operating a multimillion real-estate fraud also ripped off Miami Heat players.
The testimony came Thursday in Columbus. The Columbus Dispatch reports that a federal judge denied bond to Haider Zafar, saying he is a flight risk.
Zafar is awaiting trial on wire fraud and other charges. Prosecutors say Zafar swindled a businessman out of $10 million. The basketball players aren’t part of this suit.
Zafar’s attorney says they will challenge the charges.
The witness, international-investment attorney Andrew Fine, says former forward Mike Miller was among the Florida residents who invested $8 million with Zafar.
