Valley Visionaries look to pull Fruit Valley closer together

Fruit Valley — A new group of community builders is getting busy in Vancouver’s westernmost neighborhood. The Valley Visionaries are Fruit Valley residents who want to pull people together and build a real network of neighbors in what’s generally seen as a “transitional” low-income area with lots of turnover. To counteract that, Valley Visionaries have joined up with Evergreen Habitat for Humanity to work on volunteer projects, and hosted a July movie night. The next scheduled event is a fall festival and movie night on Sept. 14; details are still forthcoming. Future plans include financial education classes and other activities that “give residents something to be proud of,” said organizer Linda Garcia. You can reach Garcia at lindag425@gmail.com.
