GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — No. 10 Florida has suspended five players for the season opener against Toledo.

Coach Will Muschamp said earlier in the week that only linebacker Antonio Morrison, who was arrested twice in a five-week span this summer, was suspended for Saturday’s game.

But starting cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy, defensive tackle Darious Cummings, wide receiver Latroy Pittman and offensive lineman Quinteze Williams also have been suspended for violating team rules.

Purifoy, a 6-foot-1 junior from Pensacola, was replaced in the starting lineup by senior Jaylen Watkins. In addition to his defensive duties, Purifoy is expected to play offense and be a key member of every special teams unit. He started 12 of 13 games last season, finishing with 51 tackles, five pass breakups and three forced fumbles.
