OXFORD, Ohio (AP) — Chuck Martin got a five-year contract to try to restore Miami of Ohio’s football program.

Notre Dame’s offensive coordinator takes over a team that failed to win a game last season (0-12), only Miami’s fourth winless season since 1900. The RedHawks are 8-28 over the last three seasons.

Martin was introduced on Wednesday, a day after agreeing to become the next coach. He is the latest addition to the “Cradle of Coaches,” a legacy that includes Notre Dame’s Ara Parseghian.

The RedHawks fired coach Don Treadwell after they lost their first five games this season. Offensive coordinator Mike Bath was interim coach for the rest of the season.
