PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Joe Frazier has won another decision more than two years after his death: The Philadelphia Art Commission has unanimously approved a design for a statue honoring the former heavyweight boxing champ.

KYW-TV (http://cbsloc.al/1bgNYbU ) reports the sculpture will depict Frazier landing a left hook that knocked down Muhammad Ali during their 1971 title fight at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Plans for the statue to honor Frazier, who died Nov. 7, 2011, were delayed when the original sculptor, Lawrence Nowlan, died in August.

Philadelphia sculptor Stephen Layne submitted the design approved Wednesday.

Layne says, “I chose that pivotal point in his career where he knocks down Ali” noting Frazier “simply stood right back up and walked back to his corner as if it was just another job to do.”
