CLEVELAND (AP) — Reggie McAdams and Nyles Evans combined for some hot 3-point shooting as Akron breezed past Cleveland State 73-61 on Saturday afternoon.

Akron (2-2) showed no sign of being rusty, playing only their fourth regular season game of the season, following a 21-day layoff. The Zips pegged the game by making 50 percent from beyond the three, hitting 11-of-22 attempts. The Vikings on the other hand, made only 4-of-13 baskets from beyond the arc.

Cleveland State (4-5) held a brief lead of 9-8 seven minutes in, but by halftime Akron had pulled away to a 32-23 lead and never allowed the Vikings to get close. The Zips pushed the lead to as many as 19 points midway through the second half on the way to the victory.

Charlie Lee scored 14 for the Vikings, but Bryn Forbes, who averages 19.8 points was held to just nine.
