LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) — Right-hander Felipe Paulino and the Chicago White Sox have agreed to a $1.75 million, one-year contract.

The deal announced Monday includes a $1.5 million option for next season and gives the White Sox a $4 million option for 2015 with a $250,000 buyout.

The 30-year-old became a free agent on Nov. 20 when he refused an outright assignment to the minors from the Kansas City Royals. The ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow was replaced on July 3, 2012, and he returned on June 11 this year. He combined for an 0-3 record and a 6.51 ERA in seven injury rehabilitation starts over 27 2-3 innings at Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha.

Paulino has a 13-32 big league record with a 4.93 ERA in 61 starts and 32 relief appearances over five seasons with Houston (2007, 2009-10), Colorado (2011) and Kansas City (2011-12).
