Letter: Working hard inside people’s party

The Columbian
Published: December 9, 2013, 4:00pm

The new leadership of the Clark County Republican Party claims that Democrats are bad. I would like to respond to that slander of our political Democratic Party. We are decent, hard-working individuals who believe in raising people’s living standards.

Our Democratic Party has brought us out of a Great Depression, winning World War II against totalitarianism and injustice, fighting for the rights of all citizens, regardless of race, gender, etc.

Democrat Presidents Franklin Roosevelt, John Kennedy, Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama have fought for our rights. Obama fought to save the auto industry during the Great Recession and loaned them money with conditions to improve fuel efficiency. Today that industry is making profits and recovering from the recession.

More people are being put back to work by the effects of the Obama administration’s “We want better.”
