BALTIMORE (AP) — Jameel Warney scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Stony Brook past Loyola (Md) 76-69 Thursday night.

Loyola (5-4) used a 6-0 spurt, including a pair of free throws and a layup by R.J. Williams, to tie the game at 63 with 3:16 remaining. But the Seawolves (8-4) never trailed and Warney wouldn’t allow the game to slip away.

The sophomore forward, who came into the game ranked 13th in the nation in field goal percentage and 24th in rebounds per game (9.7), made 3 of 4 free throws, pulled down three rebounds and blocked one shot in the final 2:26.

Anthony Jackson, who finished with 19 points, hit 6 of 8 free throws in the last 53 seconds to hold off the Greyhounds.

Warney added five assists and tied a career high with four blocks.

Dylon Cormier led Loyola with 25 points.
