A three-pronged attacked led the tournament host Bruins to the victory over the Storm in the semifinals of the Barlow Trail Tournament in Gresham, Ore.

Caden Nelson scored 25 points, Hunter Roeder added 18 and Parker Joncus contributed 14. Barlow led 36-26 at halftime, then fended off a few runs by Skyview to advance.

“Their three leading scorers did a good job of getting to the rim, and they shot well,” Skyview coach Matt Gruhler said. “They were just tough covers for us.”

Ben Spies scored 15 points to lead a balanced Skyview attack. Tyler Hoffman and Marcus Lord each scored 10 points, and Dylan King added nine.

The Storm cut the deficit to single digits twice in the second half, but the Bruins responded both times by building leads of 15 and 17 points before holding off Skyview as time wound down.

“They’re an aggressive, defensive team that forced us into 21 turnovers, and that hurt us down the stretch,” Gruhler said. “They did a good job of making us uncomfortable, and we didn’t handle their pressure very well.”

Skyview (3-5) will face Aloha (Ore.) in the third place game at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Barlow High School.
