GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Packers’ offense has more options with quarterback Aaron Rodgers expected back on the field following a nearly two-month absence because of a left collarbone injury.

Coach Mike McCarthy said Friday the Packers would “cut him loose” when asked how Rodgers’ return would affect play-calling. Rodgers is returning in time for Green Bay’s showdown Sunday with the Chicago Bears for the NFC North title.

The Packers (7-7-1) have made a few adjustments, and could throw in a few tweaks in the next few days. But Rodgers’ return also gives the Bears’ defense a dilemma that hasn’t haunted opponents in weeks.

Focusing on Rodgers and the passing game could open up running room for rookie Eddie Lacy.

Green Bay could also decide Saturday whether to activate receiver Randall Cobb (leg) from injured reserve.
