PORTLAND — An autistic teenager who spent the night lost in the Columbia River Gorge was found Sunday morning. KGW-TV reports it was the second time in five years this boy had been rescued from a wilderness hike.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s office County officials expected it would take several hours to get 16-year-old Alex Irving down the mountain where he was found.

At approximately 4:50 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to reports of a lost hiker in the area of Ponytail Falls. Irvin became separated from his hiking group around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Lt. Steve Alexander of the Multnomah County Sheriff’s office says up to 30 rescuers, a K9 unit and an Oregon Air National Guard helicopter searched for him overnight.
