Horgan, The Citadel outshoots Furman 84-79

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — P.J. Horgan followed his first career double-double with a career-high 23 points Saturday as The Citadel downed Southern Conference-foe Furman 84-79.

Horgan had 16 points and 10 boards in the Bulldogs’ 69-63 win against Wofford, and followed up Saturday by draining 9 of 13 from the field and 5 of 6 at the foul line.

Mike Groselle, who scored a season-high 24 against Wofford, added 19 points, while Ashton Moore hit four 3-pointers en route to 14 points for The Citadel (6-15, 3-8).

The Bulldogs knocked down 56.6 percent (30 of 53) from the field and 53.8 percent (7 of 13) from 3-point range in winning their second straight.

Charlie Reddick paced the Paladins (6-14, 3-6) with 26 points on 4-of-8 3-point shooting.

Furman was coming off a 64.3-percent shooting performance against Georgia Southern, but made just 48.4 percent (30 of 62) Saturday, including 8 of 23 from 3-point range.
